Behr's Bat Makes Program History as Griffins Sweep Cairn

Junior sets all-time RBI mark in game one

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Jessica Behr became the program's all-time RBI leader to highlight a Colonial States Athletic Conference Doubleheader sweep over visiting Cairn on Tuesday. The Griffins took game one, 20-0, and the second, 19-0.

Behr finished 5-for-8 on the day with nine RBI's and five runs scored. She also added a double, triple, stolen base and a walk. She entered the day in fourth place with 94, but hit the mark in game one, knocking in a total of five runs. The total gives her 103, and the also a first in program history to reach 100 RBI's. It has been quite a season so far for the junior, who earlier this season notched her 100th career hit against Clarks Summit and currently sits in a tie for first on the all-time home run list.

Game one
The Griffins (13-13, 9-5 CSAC) scored 12 runs in the second to distance themselves early on from the Highlanders. Behr's two-run double in that inning surpassed former Griffin Stephanie Farrar at 97 RBI's. She would go 4-for-5 with five driven in and four runs scored. The team totaled a season-high 17 hits.

Teammate Lauren Waller was 3-for-3 with three RBI's and three runs while Nikki Canfield was 2-for-3 with a two-run triple. Jenna Trythall added three hits, three runs, and a pair of RBI's. The team would add five runs in the third as the game ended after the top of the fifth.

Alexis Gartner picked up the win, yielding just three hits with one strikeout and no walks.

Game two
The offense stayed red hot getting runs in their first two at-bats. Gwynedd took advantage of four first-inning errors to plate six runs on just four hits and three walks.

Behr's bases-loaded clearing triple in the second was part of an eight-run frame. In the fifth, the team put together a five-spot on six hits and two errors.

Marisa Bentley put together a career day in game two, going 4-for-4 with three RBI's and two runs scored. Waller drove in three runs while going 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Trythall and Alyssa Morales each scored three times.

Morales was also dealing it out on the mound, striking out five while giving up just two hits and no walks.

Haley Tinney had a hit in each game for Cairn (11-13, 1-13 CSAC).

Gwynedd will host Immacuata on Friday to try and muscle their way up in the conference standings.
